Description


CEW invites women leaders in Australia who meet the membership criteria, to become members regardless of where they live, their employment (executive or non-executive), the type of organisation they lead (not for profit, public or private sector) or the industry in which they work.

Women who meet the CEW membership criteria may be offered membership.

Nominations for membership are made and seconded by current CEW members, who themselves have been members for longer than 12 months. The Membership Committee and Board utilise a rigorous and objective process to determine whether a nominee meets the criteria for membership.

Selection Criteria

CEW members have a demonstrated track record of leadership and significant influence. They demonstrate a strong commitment to the progression of women and are recognised for their values-based leadership on gender and inclusion.

A proposed nominee will also meet the following guidelines used in defining what constitutes leadership:

The nominee is a leader in her chosen field: 

  • achieving one or more senior roles in organisations significant to Australia 
  • being highly respected by peers performing at the highest level within her sector (both currently and consistently)
  • demonstrating significant achievements 
  • demonstrating significant influence within the Australian community

The nominee is a role model for women in Australia:

  • having a reputation for honesty, integrity, innovation and couragerespecting and working effectively with diverse people 
  • enabling all to contribute their best work and develop professionally
  • having energy, interest and motivation to contribute meaningfully to the community
  • demonstrating an active commitment to the promotion of women
  • being universally respected for generosity of spirit

A nominee may be an Australian citizen or permanent resident living offshore, or a foreign national residing and working in Australia in a role that meets the criteria.

There are 14 membership categories. Nominees must satisfy at least one. If the nominee does not meet the criteria for an industry, please refer to the category Significant Influence.

It will be the responsibility of the Nominating Member to advise the nominee if they have been unsuccessful.
